I am pleased to announce that my new recording ‘The Impressionist’ will be released by Sunnyside records in August. Francois Zalacain from Sunnyside has supported my music for over two decades, it is a fantastic label with a strong reputation and impeccable integrity. In addition, Francois is incredible knowledgeable in the history of Jazz, I hope someone one day will write a book on his story.
The Impressionist is inspired by the great French Impressionist Gabriel Fauré, eight new compositions composed in the forced isolation induced by Covid19. This vacuum was the perfect time for reflection and getting to the heart of the music and includes Nate Radley on guitar, Gary Versace on piano and Jay Anderson on bass. They are amazing of course, no surprise there :), plus in addition, Michael Marciano from Systems Two recorded, mixed and mastered the project, and how he captured the sound is really something incredible.
And, soooooo excited to go to Tuscany Italy for teaching and playing (and cycling), with Kenny Wessel and Jeroen Vierdag, hosted by NYJW. In July I will be at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival to play with Nikolaj Hess in a variety of settings (and cycling:, you see a theme here?), and in August teaching and playing in Hudson NY with Armen Donelian and Mike Abene hosted by HJW.
And in the concert series hosted by NYJW is happening, March 18 I will be playing with Kenny Wessel and Michael Sarin at the main space: 265W 37th street, 10th floor, 9:15pm, benefit concert, $20 minimum donation.
