HJW FUNDRAISER in NYC at the NYJW main space: Saturday December 3rd, 5pm

Dear Friend of Hudson Jazzworks,

Today’s challenges never seem to end…political division, inflation, war, Covid-19… While supporting solutions that benefit the greater good, we at Hudson Jazzworks see these challenges in the light of our artistic and educational mission. Now approaching our seventeenth year, the 2023 Hudson Jazz Workshop continues to be a beacon for talented, aspiring musicians from around the globe. We focus on personal expression, through small group improvisation and composition with other like-minded participants, under the guidance of master faculty/artists and free from commercial pressures and academic prerequisites. For our participants, this activity is relevant, affirming and life-changing!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to learn and meet all of you! I really had such a great time! – Leonieke Scheulbe (Pianist, 2022 Participant)

It was great to finally meet you in person and become inspired! – Ouajdi Cherif (Pianist, 2022 Participant)

Each year a distinguished Special Guest joins HJW to present a master class and perform in public. In 2023, we are extremely proud to welcome Jay Clayton, an internationally acclaimed vocalist, composer, and educator whose work for 50 years has boldly spanned the terrain between Jazz and new music.

With the help of funds from the Bank of Greene County Charitable Foundation, the notable generosity of private donors like you – our Angels – buoys the HJW Scholarship Fund that provides tuition to talented musicians of financial need as well as participants from our academic partners – the Rhythmic Music Conservatory (Denmark), the Conservatory of Amsterdam (Netherlands), the New School Jazz Program (NY) and William Paterson University (NJ).

At this time, we need your help. Your tax-deductible gift enables us to maintain our high artistic standards while meeting our increased operating costs that, in 2023, requires us to raise our tuition for the first time since 2015. We invite you to join us in meeting this challenge!

HJW offers many possibilities for tax-deductible giving. No gift is too small. Please go to hudsonjazzworks.org/membership and make a generous contribution. We welcome gifts at any and all levels! A suggested gift of $945 funds one participant’s full tuition scholarship. We and our participants thank you from our hearts, and we hope to see and hear from you soon and often!

Sincerely Yours,

Armen Donelian Marc Mommaas Rose Caldwell
